The City of Casey selected Wagners CFT to pre-assemble and supply a FRP pedestrian bridge for the iconic ‘Tooradin Footbridge’ located on the north side of Sawtells Inlet. The FRP solution addressed issues with a previously ageing structure, ensuring it remained iconic and visually appealing whilst providing improved structural capacity and durability benefits.
The project delivered was DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant, providing safe access for all pedestrians, including wheelchair users, and had a minimum 100-year design life with very few maintenance requirements. The boardwalks on either side of the bridge formed part of a 120-metre structure made entirely from Australian-made composite structural elements. Wagners CFT's expertise and ability to manufacture quality FRP components allowed for a reliable and efficient construction process, minimising disruption to the community while meeting the project's design and functionality requirements.
"Working with Wagners CFT on our pedestrian bridge project was a seamless experience. Working closely with the installation contractor and local design and fabrication services, Wagners CFT delivered an aesthetically pleasing and durable structure that met all design and performance requirements."
- Mr Trevor Griffin, Manager, City Design & Construction
